I’ve been wanting to be in the video game industry since I was a small child. After life had its way with me for awhile, I decided that at least writing for the video game industry was still cool.
For the past four years, I felt maybe I’m wasting my time. I don’t really get paid much, which is why it’s a good thing I don’t do it for the money. I do it for the passion.
So imagine my surprise when my press application for E3 actually went through, and I received an email saying I was going. I’m finally going to be as close to the action as I can get without actually BEING a developer. I’m totally stoked. Imagine all the cool things I get to see and write about! I even bought a camcorder so that I can put up video for my readers.
It’s been months now since I received that email, and now E3 is just weeks away. Still sitting in my cloud of happiness, I open my inbox last week and… Oh My God.
I have been inundated with emails from every kind of company in the industry who is appearing at E3. Making schedules, lining up interviews, writing an agenda. I’m starting to feel a bit overwhelmed. I mean, I’m just a local Examiner who doesn’t get that much traffic, and here I am getting emails from XBOX, SEGA, Natsume, and more. I’m totally floored.
I can just see myself, running around like a kid in a candy store. Let’s just hope I’m not in such a state of shock and euphoria that I forget to write anything.
