Ok, so I’ve been a big fan of Last Day of Work games for awhile now, starting with Virtual Villagers back in the day.
Why should I like them? The graphics aren’t great, the gameplay is simple, sometimes it’s buggy as all get out. But you know what? They’re fun. Especially the Villager games where you have to solve puzzles to get further into the game.
The problem with Virtual Families 2 is there’s a huge lack of this. It’s more reminiscent of The Sims than the rest of the Virtual games. Even VF1 had a few more puzzles to unlock things in the house than this one does.
And yet, I’m still playing it. Maybe it’s because I want to decorate the house, or see how many kids I can pop out of my villagers before they get too old, or maybe it’s the fact that I’m a completionist who hasn’t yet unlocked all the goals or finished the house.
But, if you’re looking for a casual game, keep this one in mind. Just remember, it runs in real time unless you pause it, so don’t play and forget about it or you’ll come back to a dead family.
3/5 – Not a terrible little f2p game, but it could use a lot more to keep people’s attention intact.
