Nailing things down

Since the age of 6 or 7, I always knew I wanted to be included in the video games industry. I’ve been saying for quite some time now that I’m not sure what to do, though. I don’t program, my art at this point is pretty sub-par (and I don’t know any of the new programs now, anyway), I’m not a teen or young 20-something single chick that can model, I have a face for radio and a voice for silent film, and I’m not plugged in to all the new games and consoles. I tried video games journalism, but I don’t want to just report news. I want to be part of the news. Not a lot going on for me in a lot of areas.

However, I think I’ve finally found a niche that I CAN make a difference in. I want to bring awareness of the gaming community as something more than just a stereotype. I’m highly aware that there are already people doing this. Hell, PSP is one of the best at it (you can find him at But there can always be one more voice.

Myssiing Happenings

Hi all! Quick update on what’s going on the next week:

1. I wrote an article on the psychology of gaming behavior, and so far I’ve gotten a really positive response on it. You can read it here.

2. This weekend I am participating in Operation Supply Drop’s 8-bit Salute. You can watch me stream on Twitch, and consider donating here.

3. Mike is going to be absent on the show tomorrow, but I’ll be there with bells on! Catch the show Sat at 11am on the Guru Show website!

4. I’ll be writing more articles for Guru Show, and I’ve been keeping my Twitter pretty active with gaming and tech news.

5. Come check me out on! It’s a great social site for gamers, and I’d love to connect with you on there.

Welp, that’s it for now. I’ll check in again with another update or review. Cheers!

Review: ‘Battle Odyssey’ (Win Phone)

(NOTE: In order to get some feelings about this game off of my chest, I have decided to write this review in the form of a letter.)

Dear Gameloft,

I am very happy and excited that you have chosen to distribute some of your games onto the Windows Phone. As you may know, our choices are slightly more limited than that of Android or iOS users, and for that, I am appreciative.

So, I downloaded one of your games called ‘Battle Odyssey’, which is a fantastic little puzzle RPG. The graphics are great, the music is awesome, and the gameplay is simple to play with, yet challenging to master. Even the storyline is fun, which is really hard to do for a puzzle game.

There’s just one little issue. Just something minor that happens. The game shuts off.

Let me just say this: There is nothing more frustrating that trying to enter an event, such as the dailies or pvp, and have the game crash on you.

Lots of games, changes, frustration, and giddyness

Ok, so it’s been awhile since I’ve written a review. So before I get into any of that, I’m posting a short update on what’s been going on in Myssiing’s World:

First off, I will be moving from the state of Arizona to go live in California! It’s a big change, that has had a lot of complication thrown in with it, but on the whole it should work out for the best.

Secondly, I have become an ambassador for, which is a social website dedicated to gamers of all types. Think of it as a Facebook/Twitter/Twitch mashup. You can check out my profile here, and hopefully you’ll join me. I fell in love with it when I first started using it, and I hope you do too. It’s a good replacement for some of the other social media sites I use (and there’s quite a few), and I’ve found some really cool people to talk gaming with.

Third, I FINALLY got a new video card for my computer, which has opened up a whole world of new games for me to play. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let me know, because I’ve fallen way behind on my computer games. That being said, there are already a slew of games that I’ve been re-playing or trying out for the first time, so expect some reviews on them shortly.

I promised I’d keep it brief, so that’s pretty much the gist of what’s up. Expect more on here as I gradually shift towards making this more of a full-time thing. Join me on social media, hit me up on my Twitch channel (after 8pm MST), or leave me a comment. I love to talk with people about games and other things as well.

May the Fourth be with you!
